Guided Walks

Ideal for solo walkers, couples or small groups. Our guided walks are a great way to get out exploring the Peak District, meeting like-minded people without the stress of navigating or planning a route. Our walks are at a nice gentle pace giving you the chance to unwind and make new friends. If you would like a private or bespoke day, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Group walks are confirmed to run once 3 people have booked.

The Great Ridge

This route goes through some of the most admired and stunning parts of the Peak District and is known to be one of the best ridge walks in the country. The walk has stunning views over Edale, the Hope Valley and even the edge of Kinder Scout. The route goes to the summit of Lose Hill, and along the ridge to Back Tor and Mam Tor. Mam Tor is also known as ‘Shivering Mountain’, and from here we will get to see some of the most photographed Peak District views. We then descend into the quintessential Peak District village of Castleton, before following the river back to Hope.

Dates: Sun 17th Nov, Fri 14th Feb

Bamford Edge

We begin with an ascent through beautiful woodland onto Bamford Edge, one of the Peak Districts famous gritstone edges. As we walk along the edge we are rewarded with amazing views over Ladybower Reservoir and the Hope Valley. We then descend steeply down into the village of Bamford, before crossing the quaint stepping stones over the River Derwent. From here we join the flatter Thornhill trail to take us back to Ladybower Dam, and the famous plugholes.

Dates: Thur 21st Nov

River Derwent and Surprise View

This lovely circular route takes us alongside the River Derwent, before visiting the ruin of Padley Manor and learning a bit about the history of the area. We will then ascend through peaceful woodland where we will see lots of abandoned millstones (the emblem of the Peak District). As we leave the forest you will be treated to the magnificent ‘surprise view’ of the Hope Valley before we begin our descent back into Hathersage. There are then lots of options for you to treat yourself to lunch or a cake and drink!

Dates: 30th Nov

Win Hill

Leaving behind the village of Hope we ascend steeply onto moorland and the famous summit of Win Hill. The panoramic view from the trig point on Win Hill is one of the finest of the Peak District. From the summit we enjoy a gentle descent giving us plenty of time to soak up the views. Hope offers a variety of cafes for you to enjoy lunch or a coffee and cake after the walk.

TESTIMONIALS

We did a guided day walk in the Peak District with Lizzy which was well organised and a truly wonderful day – catching up with old friends whilst being able to enjoy the walk (without the stress of figuring out where we were going!) was perfect. We can’t wait to book onto our next one!

Great experience climbing snowdon. Everything was well organised, including breakfast on the way back which was very welcomed. Communication was easy and clear. Lizzie was very kind with my friend that was a bit slower, offering her walking stick to help her conquer the summit. I would definitely recommend her services

I did a challenge walk in the summer and absolutely LOVED it 🙂 It was brilliantly organised. The route was really well planned and I felt in safe hands throughout. Our guides were really attentive to things like pace management to ensure everyone in our group was comfortable. The tips and advice they gave throughout the (very hot!) day made it all feel super achievable. I met some fantastic people and I’m looking forward already to doing another. Keep up the great work!

I cannot recommend Whats Not To Hike enough – I’ve now been on two hikes that they have led & organised & both have been incredible. The routes planned have been beautiful with a huge variety of terrain. The organisation is amazing & I have always felt completely safe & looked after throughout. I genuinely cannot wait to get my next hike with Whats Not To Hike in the diary!
